The brief.
I was approached by Nexus Studios with an interactive game display that would be shown at Davos.
The game centered around helping a beautiful animated tree that reacts to visitors' movements to progress through the seasons and overcome obstacles to grow and flourish as a metaphor for nurturing investments.
The concept.
I was to design a tree in four stages of growth and illustrate a landscape going through the seasons.
It was my first time working with a team of animators and technicians trying to animate my 2D style. I learned a lot about rigging and textures and how to make my shapes accessible to mapping, as my tree needed to mirror the visitors' bodies.
Designing the challenges
The game had four stages where the tree had to face a different challenge each level creating a unique experience for every season.
I designed frames for the healthy tree to showcase all the beautiful seasonal scenes and for all the challenge scenes for all obstacles and challenges the visitor needed to overcome.
